Hereunder are 4 tips to consider when writing your farewell letter:

Show appreciation

Start your letter by expressing your heartfelt appreciation. Every job helps to build and shape you in some way. Every experience even the negative ones will help you to mature in an area.


Support your statements by giving examples of meaningful moments during your time at the company.  This will add better convey your appreciation to the reader.

Leave the door open to stay in touch

Provide information whereby your colleagues can remain in touch with you. Email and your LinkedIn contact will suffice.

Send your letter before your final day

Ensure that you send your farewell letter a few days before your final day. There may be persons in the organisation that may not be aware that you are leaving.

This will give your sufficient time to interact with them. You can also ask during this period that they leave a review on your LinkedIn profile.
