God promises us as his children that we should be the head and not the tail. This extends as well to our career. Desiring a job promotion is a noble thing and we should seek God for his desire for our professional life.

In addition, I have created a free checklist which you can access by signing up below of 10 traits of persons who get promoted at work. I know you will find this valuable.

Hereunder is a short but fervent prayer for a job promotion:-

Our Heavenly Father,

You are Almighty, the creator of the ends of the earth. There is no one like you. There is none that can be compared to you. You are the great I am. You are the most high God. I am grateful that I can always come to you and that your ear is attentive to my cry.

Thank you for the endless blessings that you have bestowed. Thank you for providing me with a job whereby I can take care of myself and my family. Help me to never ever take your goodness both great and small for granted. There are so many people who are out of work especially due to the current economic climate.

Lord, I am trusting you for a job promotion. Your word states in Psalm chapter 75 verse 6 states that for promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south but God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Along the same lines, James chapter 1 verse 17 states that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Father, you are all powerful. You can do anything. Your word states that you can do exceedingly abundantly above all that I can ever ask or think. We are in a challenging economic climate. People all around me are losing their jobs. But you oh father is my sun and shield. You can make a way where there seems to be no way. So I depend on you today for a breakthrough,

Father, I come before you asking you to grant me favour in the workplace. Give me grace to be merciful to others even in situation when mercy is not deserved. Grant me the wisdom so that I can be a light to my colleagues. Show me what skills I need to learn so that I will be equip for the professional calling that you have placed on my life. Order my steps so that I can increase my knowledge by taking the right courses.

Lord, please be my guide and prepare me as you see best fit. The times and the seasons, they are yours. I depend on you Lord to help me through this season. Your timing is perfect and I trust you with my career and every other decision in my life. Give me a nudge so that I will apply for the appropriate internal vacancies.  Your plan for me is ideal.  Your desire for me is amazing.

Lord, your word states that I should love my neighbour as myself. So I pray for any of my friends, colleagues and family members who are desirous of elevation. Father, meet their need. Open doors for them. Make a way where there seems to be no way. You are my God. My times are in your hands. Thou art my shield, my glory and the lifter of my head.

This increase in salary will mean a lot to me Lord. I will be able to afford so many things that I cannot at the moment. Lord, show me uncommon favour. Strengthen me for the stretch which is ahead of me. I will continue to bless others as I have been doing now with whatever you have blessed me with.

Father, waiting is hard. I have been trusting you for a long time for a breakthrough. Give me a peace that passeth all understanding while I wait for a miracle. Your word states in Isaiah chapter 26 verse 3, thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth thee.

Father, my eyes are on you in this season and my focus is only on you. Just as Daniel in the lion’s den, he was successful because he remained steadfast in prayer and unmovable during a storm.  He trusteth in you and you delivered him. Your word is true and you are not slack concerning your promise. I do not have to worry, I do not have to fear because you are in full control and your plans for me are perfect.

Lord, you are all powerful and you are the one that opens and close doors and not people.  Help me to always see your hand in the midst of every area of my life and not people. Situations in the past where I felt that a manager or colleague got a promotion and I was overlooked, help me Oh Lord to trust you that your plans for me are good.

I place my desire for elevation on the job into your hands as I wait on you for my blessing. In Jesus Name, Amen.
